Choose between large and small icons, change the number of recent programs and clear the list, and show or hide Internet Explorer and Outlook Express.
General
Open the task bar and start menu properties.
- Right-click anywhere on the task bar.
- Click the Properties item.
Open customize start menu.
- Click the Start Menu tab.
- Press the Customize button.
Select the general properties.
- Click the General tab.

This completes the general properties.
Icon Size
These are small icons.
- Click the Small icons circle.
- Press the OK button.

- Press the Apply button.

These are large icons.
- Click the Large icons circle.
- Press the OK button.

- Press the Apply button.

This completes the icon size.
Number of Programs
How many recent programs should it show in the start menu?
- Set the Number of programs on Start menu to 6.
- Press the OK button.

- Press the Apply button.
Play a few games in Windows XP, for example,
- Play a game of FreeCell.
- Play a game of Hearts.
- Play a game of Minesweeper.
- Play a game of Pinball.
- Play a game of Solitaire.
- Play a game of Spider Solitaire.
The start menu shows your six most recent programs like all the games we played.
This completes the number of recent programs.
Clear List
My recent programs are games like Spider Solitaire and Solitaire.
I'm not going to play any of those games ever again so clear them from the list of recent programs.
- Press the Clear List button.
- Press the OK button.

- Press the Apply button.
It clears the list of recent programs.
This completes clearing the list of recent programs.
Internet
Show Internet Explorer in the start menu.
- Checkmark the Internet box.
- Change the Internet to Internet Explorer.

- Press the OK button.
- Press the Apply button.

Don't show Internet Explorer in the start menu.
- Uncheck the Internet box.
- Press the OK button.

- Press the Apply button.

- It unpins Internet Explorer from the start menu, but adds it to the list of recent
programs.
- Remove a recent program
(but remove Internet Explorer instead of Internet Checkers).
This completes Internet Explorer.
Email
Show Outlook Express in the start menu.
- Checkmark the E-mail box.
- Change the E-mail to Outlook Express.

- Press the OK button.
- Press the Apply button.

Don't show Outlook Express in the start menu.
- Uncheck the E-mail box.
- Press the OK button.

- Press the Apply button.

This completes Outlook Express.
