There are all kinds of programs from productivity like email, word processors, and spreadsheets, all the way to entertainment like CD players, DVD players, and video games.

Windows XP comes with a lot of programs, for example, write notes in Notepad, draw pictures in Paint, visit websites in Internet Explorer, and play games like Solitaire.

The start menu has all the programs on your computer.

These are all the programs.

This completes all the programs.

Notepad

Write notes in Notepad.

Write a short note, for example,

Save your first note.

It opens the save dialog.

It saves your first note so, when you're finished writing, you can close Notepad.

The next time you want to read your first note or the next time you want to write more, open Notepad again and open your first note.

It opens the open dialog.

It opens your first note so you can read it and write more.

Paint

Draw pictures in Paint.

Draw a simple picture, for example,

Save your first picture.

It opens the save dialog.

It saves your first picture so, when you're finished drawing, you can close Paint.

The next time you want to see your first picture or the next time you want to draw more, open Paint again and open your first picture.

Internet Explorer

Microsoft does not support Windows XP anymore so Internet Explorer is especially vulnerable to hackers and viruses. If you have to use Internet Explorer on Windows XP, then make sure your antivirus software is up-to-date, do not use your credit card or PayPal or anything like that, and do not log into your bank or any account like that.

Visit a website, for example,

When you're finished browsing, close Internet Explorer.

This completes Internet Explorer.

Games

Play games like Solitaire.

Have fun playing Solitaire!

When you're finished playing, close Solitaire.

Windows XP comes with Minesweeper and a few other games.
