If you just got a new computer, these are a few things you should do on your new computer. If you don't know much about Windows, these are a few things you should know about Windows.

Setup. The first time you turn on your new computer, Windows asks you to name your new computer and to create your new account. You should enable automatic updates, but you don't have to register anything with Microsoft.

McAfee Product Setup. Virus protection is really important, but you don't have to pay for McAfee just because it's preinstalled on your computer. There are a lot of antivirus programs out there and you don't have to decide which one ...

Start Button. You probably already know the start button, but just in case you're new to Windows and you've never seen it before, this is the start button.

Internet. Microsoft does not support Windows XP anymore so you should not connect to the internet because your computer is especially vulnerable to hackers and viruses. If you have to connect to the internet on Windows XP, then ...

Shortcuts. There are a lot of programs on your computer that you will never use, and there are a lot of shortcuts to those programs that you will never need. Delete the shortcuts.

Turn Off Computer. Do not press the power button to turn off your new computer, you have to be careful so you don't lose unsaved changes or cause any other roblems. Turn off your new computer by turning off Windows XP.
