Internet

Microsoft does not support Windows XP anymore so you should not connect to the internet because your computer is especially vulnerable to hackers and viruses.

If you have to connect to the internet on Windows XP, then make sure your antivirus software is up-to-date, do not use your credit card or PayPal or anything like that, and do not log into your bank or any account like that.

Internet Service

You have to have internet service, like dial-up, DSL, fiber, satellite, or cable, from an internet service provider, like a phone company or a cable company, and you have to have a modem or a router.

I have AT&T U-Verse Fiber for $60 dollars a month, and I have an AT&T modem/router.

Desktop Computer

If you have a desktop computer, then plug your computer directly into your modem or your router with an ethernet cable. You're on the internet!

If you have any problems, though, call your internet service provider.

Laptop Computer

If you have a laptop computer, then connect to the internet by connecting to a wireless network.

It opens the Wireless Network Wizard.

The network name is on the modem or router, but if you're using someone else's internet connection then ask them.

The network key or the wi-fi password is on the modem or router, but if you're using someone else's internet connection then ask them.

Connect to the network.

You're on the internet!

If you have any problems, though, call your internet service provider.

McAfee Security Center

As soon as you connect to the internet, a critical software update is available for the McAfee Security Center.

You do not have to register your computer with McAfee.

Disconnect

Disconnect Windows XP from the internet by disabling your network connection.

You're off the internet!
